While I sit behind my camera, I put my eye up to the viewfinder waiting. It is completely quiet. Dead silence, it is actually quite peaceful, a moment of pure serenity. As I wait patiently, well, try to wait patiently, my brain is scrambling about what I’m going to do with my video. What song am I gonna use? What transitions am I gonna use? How should I sequence my clips? How long should it be? All of these thoughts are cluttering my mind. When I see the thumbs up my mind goes blank with excitement. I just wait and watch. As the bike speeds past me, I get this weird feeling in my stomach. This feeling as if I have butterflies in there. I grab my camera and scurry down the trail with the biggest smile on my face, “Look at this!” As I show my friend the video, I feel amazing. Almost as if I had an adrenaline rush from capturing something so breathtaking. This is how I want to spend my life. I want to spend my life being behind a camera creating cinematic art.
I want to attend film school to learn more about the art. I want to expand my knowledge in filmmaking and be able to leave college with the tools and skills necessary to start a film company or become a part of one. I want to learn more techniques and expand my knowledge with lighting, directing, camera equipment, and editing. I want to create stories and entertainment and share them with the world. I want to impact people and leave a mark. I want people to remember what I created. I want to make a difference in the film industry. I want to inspire other filmmakers. I ultimately want to be a part of the film community and create beautiful works of art.
